3.1. Buildes Components

In this section we describe the components that can be used to describe buildings. Parts of a building can be described using a hierarchy that starts with the Site object. There can only be one Site for each building. Then there is the Level object. There must be at least one Level in a site and each Level can have one or more “Space” objects. The Space object requires much configuration in a typical building because there are many other objects that are part of it. The last object that is added to the building is the “Roof” object.

Two other objects that do not belong in the same category as those mentioned are the Mark object and the “Form” object. The Mark object is not part of the building but is provided to assist the designer in the design/thinking process. It is an effort in Buildes to support sketching/early-building-design. The Form object is a multipurpose object and can be used to define any part of the building.
